These Dark Chocolate Cherry Hand Pies are perfect for Valentine’s Day. This easy hand pie recipe is made using a homemade flaky pie crust, that’s stuffed with your favorite chocolate and a tart cherry filling.

Chocolate Cherry Hand Pies Ingredients

– all-purpose flour – sugar – baking powder – salt – butter – cherry filling – chocolate chips – eggs – milk

Step 1

Combine the flour with salt, sugar, and baking powder. Use a pastry cutter, or pulse in a food processor to cut the butter into the flour.

Step 2

Slowly add the ice-cold water, once the dough has come together quickly wrap it in plastic wrap and then pop it into the fridge for 2 hours.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 425 Degrees. On a well-floured surface roll out the pie crust dough with a well-floured rolling pin.

Step 4

Cut out the hearts making sure to cut 2 hearts per hand pie. Cut an X or 2 lines into the top pieces of the hand pie.

Step 5

In a medium-sized bowl add the cherry pie filling. In a small bowl mix, the egg wash together with an egg and milk.

Step 6

Brush the egg wash around the edges of the heart leaving the middle part of the pie for the filling. Add the filling, be careful not to overfill!

Step 4

Using the designated top piece of dough with the X, stretch it over the bottom half of the hand pie.

Using a fork lightly press the edges of the hand pie ensuring there are no openings.

Brush the tops of each hand pie with egg wash and then bake for 15-17 minutes or until the pie crust is golden brown.

Remove from the baking sheet immediately onto a cooling rack. Dust the hand pies with confectionary sugar and serve when ready. Enjoy!
