Every year I try to find new family-friendly activities for my family to experience around the holidays. This year we were treated to a Family Trip to Gaylord National Resort’s Christmas on the Potomac featuring ICE!
This has quickly become a new holiday family tradition that my family can look forward to each year. There are so many fun activities to participate in it’s seriously a full day of fun.

Feast With The Grinch
Our family adventure started with a Feast With The Grinch. Enjoy a delicious meal and meet the star of the holiday season…THE GRINCH himself! This one-of-a-kind interactive breakfast experience includes a buffet of Who-ville inspired items, table-side visits with The Grinch and Max and special touches Dr. Seuss fans are sure to adore.
This full breakfast spread includes green waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, made to order omelets, baked goods, cereal and more. There were more than enough choices that could satisfy any appetite. Esuun loved it when The Grinch himself visited us at our table. Overall the characters will make their rounds to each family and give ample time for photo opportunities.
ICE! Presents The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
The must-see holiday attraction is back! ICE! featuring the 1957 Dr. Seuss classic, How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Watch how the Grinch tries to steal Christmas from the Whos of Who-ville through interactive ice sculptures and displays.
Experience favorite scenes from this Christmas special such as the Grinch lurking through the chimneys of the Who-ville homes, the Grinch’s heart growing three sizes after realizing Christmas means a little bit more, and sitting down at the Whos’ feast where the Grinch carves the roast beast.
Our ICE! Presents The Grinch Who Stole Christmas Experience
The whole experience was amazing for my family, after we put on our Blue Parka’s we were treated to an adventure. It was definitely cold in there so make sure if you do visit to bring along a hat and a pair of gloves. One of the coolest things my kids couldn’t get over was the ICE slide, it was a marvel to look at and a ton of fun to slide down.
Hand Carved Ice Sculptures

Gingerbread Decorating Corner
Have fun and use your creative culinary skills in this delicious holiday tradition. Decorate your own gingerbread kit in Gingersnap’s Christmas Kitchen. Afterward, be sure to say hi and share a hug with Nutmeg, their very own Gingerbread Man.
My family had the opportunity to decorate our very own Gingerbread Family during our visit. Our kit included everything we needed to help dress up gingerbread people for their very own Christmas Party.
Gingerbread Kits
The Gingerbread Decorating Corner offers other Gingerbread kits such as Gingerbread Houses. If your kit doesn’t have that perfect festive candy decoration, simply head over to the candy station and pick up all your supplies there. All other candies are for sale and thank goodness no one will judge you if you end up eating half of your supplies.

My family enjoyed taking a break from the crowds in the Gingerbread Decorating Corner. It was quiet enough for us to enjoy the Christmas music that played while we were decorating. It was also a nice break from all the walking we did at the ICE! event.
Reindeer Rush Tubing
Hold on to your hats guys, reindeer aren’t the only ones who can soar! Feel the rush as you slide down the Christmas Village’s NEW Reindeer Rush Ice Tubing hill. The 2 stories tall, four-lane hill offers all the fun of sledding with the added speed of ice.

The last activity on our list of MUST DO activities during our visit was the Reindeer Rush. Let me just warn you that you will soar! It’s fun for the whole family as you soar down the Ice and if you’re like me will spin around in circles.
Each ticket purchased entitles you to unlimited slides for the day. Take advantage of the unlimited slides by breaking up your visit with multiple slides in between other activities.
