I Feel Pretty – Movie Review (No Spoilers)
Let’s face it, ladies, there have been many times that we haven’t felt so pretty. I couldn’t even begin to list the many reasons why I sometimes don’t feel pretty. It could have been the spit-up I wore on my T-shirt for an entire grocery store trip.
I mean, it could possibly be the fact that I haven’t washed my hair for 3 days, but who’s counting? I had a great time attending the “I Feel Pretty Event” at my local AMC theater last Wednesday. It was truly a mom’s night out for me, as well as for my sissy and bestie Danielle.
There were some great photo ops for us to take advantage of as well as a mommy juice drink! After us girls got our drink we headed to the theater to grab our seats as we excitedly waited for the movie to start.

I Feel Pretty – Movie Review
Amy Schumer’s I FEEL PRETTY is undoubtedly this spring’s comedy hit! I personally have dealt with many instances where I just don’t feel pretty. It would be either my hair isn’t perfect, or I don’t look the same in this outfit as the girl in the photo did.
Other instances have been just not feeling the confidence I truly should have as a beautiful 28-year-old woman.
I Feel Pretty
Granted I have had 4 children who in many instances have become the first and foremost priority in my day. I know many of us working moms preach to make sure you take time to focus on self-care and pampering yourself.
As many of us moms, be they working or stay at home can all testify that some days we just rank dead last in our things-to-do lists.

Amy Schumer in I Feel Pretty
In this film, you will follow along as Rene (‘Amy Schumer’) goes from the underconfident woman who works in a basement for a makeup company. To the confident bright young woman who isn’t afraid of rejection, even though some of it was done directly to her face.
Rene seems to get caught up in herself and eventually loses who she was before her accident. Watch as Rene goes from the invisible quiet girl to the vibrant, confident young woman she always wanted to be. In the midst of everything,
Rene finds true love and finally sees why this guy is so crazy about her. Which by the way has nothing to do with her initial assumptions of what being pretty really is.

If you could take anything away from this film I would hope you received many good laughs, as I thought it was hilarious. I hope that you take away that your beauty is skin deep and no publication or outside person can tell you otherwise. Love is attainable for all and it is found in someone who sees you for you and not a picture in a magazine.
The number one thing I learned from this film is that it’s okay to laugh at yourself, it’s okay to know yourself. Above everything it is important to love yourself and FEEL PRETTY even though you:
- Wear yoga pants 90% of the time.
- Don’t wear makeup every time you leave the house.
- Are rocking that dry shampoo hairdo (on day 2!)
- Are rocking that messy bun like the rockstar
- or whatever the case may be!

Confidence comes from within and can be used in all aspects of life, for your career or maybe just tackling that cycling class you have been nervous about trying. Be bold, be confident, and love yourself, ladies! I know it’s tough when you have so many other things on your plate, including your family’s schedules and activities.
Just remember that you are also important and to make sure you do take that time out to pamper yourself, even if that means you have to wait till midnight to take a long bath and paint your toenails. I may or may not be guilty of this but nonetheless, it is still a great option for yall to take advantage of.
