FX’s Better Things
Hello Mom! First off let me tell you how awesome you are! Sometimes it takes someone just reminding you how awesome you are to remember you are superwoman. You can do whatever you put your mind to. Even if that means you have to get dinner on the table by 5 and it’s already 4:29 and you’re still in the grocery store getting said dinner ingredients.
I have a new show to tell you about and trust me I know you will love it! It’s all of the things we moms go through, with at least one of our children. Things can get rough in a household where you are outnumbered by 2 or even 3!
Yes, I am the mom who is outnumbered by 3, and sometimes it is amazing we all make it through the day without a total meltdown from one of the kids.
Better Things on FX
I can totally relate to this show in many parts and found one of the scenes from the first episode so relatable. If you would like to watch the first episode of the show now, you can head over HERE and watch it for FREE.
Highly Relatable Scene 1
The scene where mom has to put her daughter to bed but her daughter asks her to sleep in the bed with her till she falls asleep. Well, that scene rings insanely true in my household where my girls ask me to do the same thing. Just like the mom in this show, I try my best to not fall asleep with them as they both drift off into dreamland.
I try to use my phone to keep me awake but I end up falling asleep with it in my hands. Oh, the work I miss getting done while I am taking my cat nap with my girls. Beautiful bonding time but a killer when it comes to my time schedule for the day.
Highly Relatable Scene 2
The Mom just trying to hold everything together, cooks, cleans, and runs all of the errands including graph paper shopping in an almost empty store. I am that same single mom trying to balance my personal life with my family and work life.
The phone call she receives in the recording booth about her kid’s homework assignment is always a duh moment for a single mom like me.
It’s a crazy hectic life trying to keep up with so many different working parts in our big family. Watching as she struggles through many of the same things was an “OH YEAH!” moment time and time again for me throughout the show. Super relatable!

In Better Things, Pamela Adlon plays “Sam,” a working actor with no filter trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two, and also — just maybe — squeeze in some private time once in a while. Her life is funny to watch, but you wouldn’t want to live it (except sometimes).

Sam’s audition!!! 🙂
I haven’t saw it yet.
Have in on DVR, hope to catch up this weekend
I liked the crazy pillow scene of course! 😉
The part when she was asked by her young daughter in the bathroom if she was dating some kids dad….gross! Lol!
I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet but I’m excited about it being relatable.
I have love Pamela Adlon since Lucky Louie… there’s something about a teeny tiny woman with a sailor mouth that seems… comfortingly familiar? The what/what interchange is currently going on in my home with my tween, so it made me laugh. And cry at the same time. Sigh.
I haven’t seen it yet. It’s on the DVR but this week has been crazy busy.
I haven’t watched the 1st episode yet but I will check it out
