Universal’s Volcano Bay

Universal’s Volcano Bay™ water theme park is all about safety, Take a moment when you first enter to park to go over some of the rules. Also, take note of the park hours as it will help you plan out your visit.

This hassle-free island is just steps away from Universal Orlando’s other world-class theme parks, Universal’s Islands of Adventure™ and Universal Studios Florida™, five themed on-site resort hotels, and the dining, shopping, and entertainment of Universal CityWalk™.

Visiting Universal’s Volcano Bay

This water theme park features different themed sections that all surround the towering Volcano. At the base of the Volcano, you will find Waturi Beach which really makes you feel like you are on a real beach. Water is Life. Life is Joy. That’s the philosophy celebrated at Universal’s Volcano Bay™ water theme park.

It’s the carefree attitude the fabled Waturi islanders have embraced on their Pacific island for centuries. Now you can live the Waturi way at this all-new park where thrills and relaxation flow in perfect harmony.

TapuTapu

Each visitor will receive a TapuTapu™ which you will need to keep a close watch on during your visit. At Volcano Bay™ you can use your TapuTapu™ a waterproof wearable specifically designed for the park to hold your place in the Virtual Line™ for one attraction at a time.

With the power of the TapuTapu™ wearable, there’s no standing in long lines, carrying rafts around the park, nothing between you and a full day of fun. It’s an all-new kind of paradise, just steps away from everything Universal Orlando Resort™ has to offer. TapuTapu™ will alert you when your time is approaching for your ride and also alert you as soon as your spot is ready.

Tip: Find the ride with the most wait time and use your TapuTapu™ to hold your spot in line there. This ensures you can work your way down the wait time list efficiently.

Using TapuTapu

TapuTapu™ is also your key to snagging your own locker and can even become your wallet. I know it’s tempting to want to bring your wallet with you on your rides but you can let TapuTapu™ be your wallet. TapuTapu™ can allow you to load your Credit or Debit card straight to watch giving you the power of one tap to purchase anything throughout the waterpark.

Although TapuTapu™ is awesome at becoming your virtual wallet, you still have the option of NOT loading your Credit or Debit card and can still use TapuTapu™ for reserving spots on rides. If you lose your TapuTapu™ simply head to the Guest Services area and they can issue you a new one that will allow you to still access your Locker.

Krakatau™ Aqua Coaster

Among the many different family-themed water rides you will find Krakatau™ Aqua Coaster. Honorary Waturi can experience the power of Krakatau™ on this amazing ride. Four-person canoes slide upward through the mists and into the dark twists and turns within the volcano before emerging with a plunge through a shimmering waterfall.

Navigating Volcano Bay

Navigating around the park can get a little confusing at times, make sure you are checking out signposts like these throughout the park. As you are waiting to ride some of the rides adventure into some of the smaller areas that your whole family can enjoy.

Some rides have a “no wait time” so you can easily just hop on one of those while your TapuTapu™ holds your spot and counts down for you.

Runamukka Reef™

I spent a lot of time with little Esuun at Runamukka Reef™, it was perfect for her age and she had a lot to do there. There was a huge play area equipped with 4 slides that only she could go down. This was perfect for her as she felt like a big girl going on the huge water slides by herself.

The whole play area was full of fun interactive water features where you could get soaking wet or aim a water gun and spray your friends and family. I was able to join in on a lot of stuff she was doing but I also had the ability to pull up a chair and take a rest as she played and the big kids rode the big water rides.

Kopiko Wai Winding River

Take a slow ride on the Kopiko Wai Winding River through the tropical landscape of Universal’s Volcano Bay™, a land full of surprises. Sprays of water surprise along the way, and beneath the lava rocks, Stargazer’s Cavern reveals the magical night sky above.

I could have spent hours at the Kopiko Wai Winding River if the kids had let me. At some point, the boys got separated from me and the girls.

So we spent about an hour trying to loop around and find them, Eventually, we found them and we all were able to float together finally. It was a lot of fun going through the Stargazer’s Cavern and the girls had a fun time pointing out how pretty it was.

Family-Friendly Dining

There are truly a great number of places you can eat or drink at in Universal’s Volcano Bay™. Each location was family-friendly and smelled really good walking past. If your family is just in the mood for snacks, you can stop by one of the smaller snack stands. Grab a drink or a small snack for the kiddos’s and then head back to the rides.

Places To Eat and Drink:

  • Kohola Reef Restaurant & Social Club™
  • Kunuku Boat Bar
  • Dancing Dragons Boat Bar
  • Bambu
  • The Feasting Frog
  • Whakawaiwai Eats

Volcano Bay in Orlando Florida

Don’t forget to rinse off your feet when you’re leaving at one of these fun water spray stations. You will notice them as you walk into the theme park. Be careful though, my kids found it to be another “ride” so we ended up staying for an extra 20 minutes so they could watch and play in the water.

Overall the kids had a blast and I will definitely be taking them back during our next visit to Orlando Florida. It’s worth every penny to come here and I totally recommend that you come when the park is opening and stay till it closes. There is truly so much to do here for the whole family you will have a blast.
