My family was invited to screen Sony’s Bad Boys For Life film in 4DX last weekend. As always our 4DX Experience was one of a kind and made for a great weekend event for me and my teens. Adventuring into Washington D.C. is always a delight and we are always on board for a good time in the capital. As a die-hard fan of the Bad Boys Franchise, I was super stoked to catch this new film.

About Bad Boys For Life
The Bad Boys Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are back together for one last ride in the highly anticipated Bad Boys for Life. The infamous Old School duo Marcus and Mike have to confront new issues (career changes and midlife crises), as they join the newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department to take down the ruthless Armando Armas, the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel.
Bad Boys For Life Movie Review
First I will warn you that I am a die-hard fan of this franchise and was more than excited to have the chance to review this film. To start my review I will say that in true Bad Boys style the film started off with a bang as Mike and Marcus are racing through Miami in Mike’s infamous expensive car.
If you rewind and think about how long it has been since we last saw this duo you will remember it was in 2003, 17 years ago!
Bad Boys For Life 3
A lot has changed in 17 years and with that comes some expected changes from the family. Marcus becomes a grandfather and the reappearance of Reggie was a welcomed surprise. With those changes comes the clear picture that this infamous duo has aged quite a bit over the years.
Although Will Smith and Martin Lawrance are in their 50’s it doesn’t stop them from getting fully immersed in all the action in this film. Or change up their comedic humor as we get a chance to experience that again.
As an almost 30-year-old, I had to say this film gave off the vibe of a “grown folks” film. The type where you got all that action you want yet more of a storyline compared to their previous films.
What I mean is that compared to the previous films the action you will expect is about half of what we got in Bad Boys 2. With Bad Boys 2 still being my favorite of the 3 films in this franchise was an epic adventure that is admittedly hard to top.
Action in Bad Boys For Life
Mike and Marcus are faced with some huge life changes in Bad Boys For Life when Marcus decides he wants to retire. I mean RETIRE?! Did we ever expect these Bad Boys to hang up their bulletproof vests and call it quits? Although Marcus wants to call it quits Mike has a score to settle when the emergence of a new very handsome and fit character arrives on the scene.
And let me tell you, this character paired with his drug cartel mother have a huge vendetta against Mike Lawery and other characters from the past. I mean they attempted to kill Mike within minutes of the start of this film. Overall I enjoyed this film and since I don’t spoil films I won’t tell you what the huge jaw-dropping surprise is in this film. However, I will say you can expect some classic Bad Boys action and comedy throughout the film.
I will admit that while you get that classic Bad Boys action you will have to wait for more toward the end of that film to experience that. I love the introduction to some new characters, especially the ones in AMMO featuring my girl Vanessa Hudgens. Thankfully the ending leaves an opening for a Bad Boys 4 film which was reported to be in production/on the way.
Since I don’t want to spoil the ending I will report that I am happy to see one of the new very handsome characters in this fourth installment. At least that’s what they lead you to believe in the last moments of the film.
Bad Boys For Life 4DX Experience
Bad Boys For Life was my first action film 4DX experience and won’t be my last. I’ve seen many other family-friendly films that included action scenes, however, this film definitely had a different feel. There is a motorcycle chasing scene that really gets you feeling as though you are on the chase with them.
Other scenes offer a real-life feeling as though you are moving with the characters during various action scenes. I liked that with the 4DX Experience you aren’t just getting the extra sounds and lights. With this experience, you can expect your seats to move throughout the film as though you are in the character’s shoes. At some points in the film, I forgot I was sitting in a 4DX chair because the seats moved so fluidly with the scenes.
I brought my teens to this film since they are big fans of the franchise. They said it was really cool and a step up from the normal theatre experience. Although we couldn’t catch this film in the ScreenX format we hope one day to catch that almost 360 type of movie-going experience with other films.
I would say this is definitely a rated R type of movie, however, it was acceptable enough for me to bring my teens. I would rate this 4DX experience as a must-try for all who are looking to level up their movie-going experience.
