Discovering Your Trufit With GoodNites – KeKe’s Story

This is my beautiful daughter Keturah, we call her KeKe. She is one of the best big sisters you can ask for, when she isn’t fighting over who’s turn it is with the baby doll of course. Keke was an only girl for 4 years until I got pregnant with my youngest daughter Esuun.

This was a big change for Keke meaning she wasn’t the baby anymore and that she had a little person whom she would watch grow and help take care of. Keturah was fully potty trained by the time she was 2 years old and did very well with overnight sleeping schedules.

KeKe’s Bedwetting Story

After Esuun was born KeKe sadly started suffering from bedwetting. At first, I thought she may have just had a few accidents and that she was just sleeping very deeply. The reason for her bedwetting was actually more complex than most of us thought it was.

Now I’m not a doctor but I feel as though I know my daughter enough to have diagnosed her with something that is actually common in most cases. You see Keke wasn’t sick or needed to see the doctor, she actually had a few things happening that although seemed medical were actual mental and emotional.

Being a big sister was such a big change for her as well as realizing she was growing up. Here were a few things we were able to figure out after watching her for a few nights and discussing what was happening with her.

1. Sibling Jealousy

It’s common and happens but she was harboring some jealousy with her younger sister. This is very common amongst siblings and is easily solved by doing small things to get everyone adjusted to the new living arrangements. How I was able to solve this was to let KeKe hold the baby and to help me with some of the chores for the baby.

She would help me change her diaper and pick out her clothes for the day, Esuun ended up being her barbie doll for a few months. I also made sure to sit down and talk to KeKe and let her know that even though she has a younger sister, she would never replace the love I have for her in my heart.

2.) Are you afraid of the dark?

Well, KeKe is and to my surprise, this developed out of nowhere with her. It wasn’t as if she saw a scary movie but more of just her coming into herself and understanding the world around her.

I solved this problem by putting a night light in her room and one in the bathroom. I currently keep a small children’s size lamp in her bathroom which I keep on all night long in case she has to go potty.

3. Exercised her power of speech

There is a rule in our house where we are always supposed to voice our opinions no matter how small or big they are. This ends up backfiring on me sometimes when everyone wants to voice their opinions at the same time, but we are able to somehow find a way for everyone to take turns.

Something that helped KeKe overcome bedwetting was her acknowledging she had a problem and that she would fix it. It took a lot for her but she was able to let me know how she was feeling about becoming a big sister and her fears of the dark.

Bedwetting has never been an embarrassing issue for KeKe it’s always been something more of a bump in the road for her. I always reminded her that it’s ok to make a mistake, it’s how you avoid making that mistake is what counts.

After a few nights of her wetting the bed at the beginning of our journey, I immediately ran to CVS to get her some Goodnites Trufit Underwear. The thing I love about this new Underwear is that they aren’t your usual diapers, they are something much more special. To find them you only need to visit your local CVS Pharmacy store in the Baby aisle.

Instead of putting a baby’s diaper on her we able to put on normal underwear like sleepwear that has removable inserts. These inserts catch the nighttime accidents which then are discarded the next morning.

The thing I find super cool about these is that they are such an emotional booster for kids like my daughter who suffered from Bedwetting. Instead of having them put on baby-like diapers which can dampen their spirits, they are able to put on something that is just like their normal underwear.

Feeling Empowered With Trufit

Keke knows exactly where they are and loves being able to pick up her special underwear. She’s a pro now at taking out and replacing her trust disposable pads. What she loves the most about this new line of Goodnites is that she gets to wear her favorite color!

One of KeKe’s best moments was when she was invited to a sleepover, she was worried for a little bit that her friends would notice her Goodnites Trufit Underwear. She had no idea what they would say to her if they noticed or if they would think of her differently.

On top of them noticing her Goodnites Trufit underwear she was worried she would make a mess while she slept. To her surprise, she was able to sleep through the night without anyone noticing or making a mess! The Goodnites Trufit did its job leaving KeKe overjoyed.

One of our boys had a lot of trouble staying dry all night until a year or so ago. These would have been great to have.

My son has special needs and he was a late bed wetter. I would have loved to have these when he was potty training. It would have been a confidence booster.
