My kids and I are going Wild At The NOVA Wild. Experience up-close encounters with 9 different species; from majestic bison, lovable llamas, and friendly fallow deer, and more. Enjoy feeding and petting sheep, goats, zebu, and many more barnyard favorites!

Going Wild At The NOVA Wild Zoo
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, meaning I have seen the town go from a small 2 lane road city to a bustling city that never sleeps. When I was a little girl (which wasn’t too long ago might I add) I used to visit our local NOVA Wild,
It featured so many great things I had to go back and revisit it with my kids. We went late this summer meaning they were moving things around and adding new features!

Visiting The NOVA Wild Zoo
One of my favorite parts of visiting the NOVA Wild Zoo, is when we would go on the guided drive-through safari tour. That’s when you can get up close and personal with the larger animals to feed them. I have to admit that it wasn’t my kid’s favorite thing to do, they weren’t as trusting of the larger animals. So we mainly stayed in the feeding station where you can feed different kinds of smaller animals.
The petting and feeding barn held sheep, goats, zebu, and many more barnyard favorites. To feed the animals you are given a choice of regular food pellets, a baby bottle full of milk, and a bird feeder stick. The Zoo had a special where you can get all 3 different kinds of food for a decent price, so I got that for all of the kids.

The NOVA Wild Zoo – Zoo Boo Event
The NOVA Wild Zoo will be hosting a Zoo Boo event featuring face painting, trick-or-treat trails, a touch station, and a pumpkin patch tractor ride. I’m pretty sure you can guess who will be attending this event.
The Zoo Boo 2015 dates are – October 24th & 25th and October 31st & Nov 1st. Be sure to check back to see what my kids think about this Bootacular event next month.
Address: 1228 Hunter Mill Rd. , Vienna, VA 22182

NOVA Wild Zoo
The kids were so brave and my 2-year-old did attempt to feed the baby lambs (those babies were feisty). The big kids were hesitant to feed the animals out of their hands until they finally built up the courage to give it a try. Their courage was repaid with the animals tickling their hands as they frantically tried to lick the food out of their hands.
Okay, don’t freak out moms! There were hand sanitizer stations at the front and back of this stable and of course you can bring your own. But hey let’s face it, half the fun of being a kid is getting down and dirty.
