Today I am sharing my mom, Janices’ story about Staying Healthy and Active With Poise. Staying Healthy and Active With Poise – Janice’s Story
Meet my mother, her name is Janice. She was born and raised in Virginia and had 2 children, a boy and a girl (me). Something many people don’t know when they first meet her is that she has Fibromyalgia. She has suffered from this affliction since she was a baby.
Over the years she has had many treatments and many tests done to hopefully help cure or at least help with the pain. My mom isn’t only one of the toughest people in the world that I’ve ever met, but she’s also an amazing grandmother of 6 grandkids.

Being a mom and a grandmother could bring all types of stress to your life. Add in staying healthy and active and you have a recipe for SUI. Yes, my mother suffers from SUI and it’s not something many people walk around telling strangers. She is very brave for sharing her story.
As I sat with her and we discussed how she is able to overcome this I was very moved. It wasn’t something I had to deal with for too long but with many aspects of how I had to live my life, I could very much relate to her.
Staying Active
Staying active was one thing that she has continue to do and by staying active I mean yoga. My mom actually mastered the upside-down headstand and proudly shows it to her grandkids. Although, it scares the bejeezus out of me because I worry about her possibly tumbling down and hurting herself.
Staying active doesn’t always mean exercising she explained, but staying active with your grandkids was a big aspect as well of her life. When her 5th grandson Easton was born she began to become more physically active with him playing, and even holding him as he slept.
Having An Active Lifestyle
Many physical activities can strain my mother, but somehow her 95 lb body handles many things life or herself throws at her. The fact that she drinks about a gallon of hot tea and hot chocolate combined in 1 day has nothing to do with anything *wink* *wink*.
